AI Literacy Starter Kit

This kit is free to use. It is the simple version of AI skill-building: one week, one tool, one repeatable use case, and enough structure to stop feeling scattered every time you open a chatbot.

1. The minimum AI literacy loop

Step 1

Name the task in one sentence before you ask AI for anything.

Step 2

Give the model the audience, output format, and source material.

Step 3

Review the answer like an editor, not a spectator.

Step 4

Save what worked so you do not relearn it next week.

2. One-week beginner sprint

Day 1: choose one primary tool and write down why you picked it.
Day 2: use it for one real work task you already had to do.
Day 3: improve the prompt by adding audience, format, and source material.
Day 4: verify at least three specific claims or details yourself.
Day 5: save your best prompt and final output in one reference doc.
Day 6: repeat the same workflow on a second real task.
Day 7: keep one workflow and delete the rest of the noise.

3. Prompt repair worksheet

Use this pattern whenever your first prompt is too vague.

Task: What do I need the AI to help me do? Audience: Who is this for? Format: Do I want bullets, memo, email, checklist, table, or summary? Source Material: What notes, text, or raw input should the AI work from? Quality Bar: What would make this answer actually usable?

4. Burnout prevention checklist

Use a 25-minute session cap.
Stay inside one tool unless the task clearly needs another.
Do not compare tools mid-task.
End each session with one completed artifact.
Track wins, not just time spent.
